Anonymous gift sign of love, grace
On Veterans Day, following the parade, I was approached by a friendly couple.Wearing my 33-year-old dress blues, I was asked when I had served. They then handed me an envelope that said "Thank you for your service."

I was pleasantly surprised, thanked them, and asked if they were visitors or residents. They said they were "Fripponians." I told them I would share this message with other members of our chapter of the Women Marines Association.
They walked off as I opened the card to find a $20 bill and a lovely message:
"To you who serve, we want you to know that we and millions of others in the United States of America and around the world think of you often and the sacrifices you have or are making. Please take yourself to lunch knowing we appreciate you. To paraphrase one of our presidents, 'Most people spend their lives wondering if they have made a difference; those who have served, have no doubt.'
"We thank you,
"Jim and Barbara."
How does one thank generous, anonymous individuals? Perhaps I need to pass this special $20 bill on. I like to think this is God's love and grace working in a chaotic world. God bless Jim and Barbara!
