Hotlanta does an island residency this weekend
The Jazz Lovers of the Lowcountry's Sunday night concert at the Coligny Theatre will feature jazz with a Southern accent.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]Hotlanta, which specializes in New Orleans-style Dixieland jazz, will tackle songs by the likes of Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton, plus many favorites like "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Royal Garden Blues" and, of course, "When the Saints Go Marchin' In."
Based in Atlanta, the group has performed extensively in the South since it was founded by Don Erdman in 1990. Hotlanta has performed at The Famous Door on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, the Brevard College Jazz Festival in North Carolina and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
Beyond the South, Hotlanta has taken its music to clubs and festivals in Spain, Germany, Japan, France, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Belarus, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
The band are frequently visitors to Hilton Head and have appeared twice before in the Jazz Lovers' series. "We are always happy to welcome Hotlanta back to our stage," said program director Ron Burton.

The band also will perform at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at the Jazz Corner, located in the Village at Wexford on Hilton Head Island. Tickets are $15. On Sunday, the venue also will host the New Orleans-Style Jazz Jam by the Dixieland Jazz Society of the Lowcountry from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jazz Corner, Village at Wexford, Hilton Head Island.
