Havana Son plays free Port Royal show

'Buddy' continues at the Arts Center
"Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story," a show celebrating the life, legend and music of one of the pioneers of rock 'n' roll, continues at the Arts Center this week. Touted as the world's most successful rock musical (the show ran in London's West End for over 5,000 performances), "Buddy" is a jukebox show that covers all of his classic hits. "Buddy" stars Matthew Gray, Jason Yachanin and Scott Moss. It continues at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 7 p.m. Sundays through July 27. For information or tickets, call 843- 842-2787.
Oyster roast to benefit Jack Uhlhorn

Shannon Tanner marks 20 years
Hilton Head Island residents and visitors will have the opportunity to celebrate America's birthday and wish singer/songwriter/guitarist Shannon Tanner a happy 20th anniversary, in honor of two decades of performing live at Shelter Cove Harbour, on July 4. The public is invited to sign a giant card in honor of Tanner's landmark anniversary at Shelter Cove between July 1 and 4. Fireworks will explode over Shelter Cove Harbour on Independence Day as part of HarbourFest's annual Fourth of July celebration, which is free and open to the public. Sun City presents 'Brigadoon'
The Sun City Community Theatre will present "Brigadoon" at 7:30 p.m. July 17-19 and 25-26 and 2 p.m. July 24 at the Bluffton High School Performing Arts Center. Arts camp covers many kinds of media
Each Other's Muse, a new gallery, studio and workshop, will hold an Arts Camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 14-18 at 19 Buckingham Plantation Drive in Bluffton. Participants from ages 6 to 16 will be offered age-appropriate artistic activities to choose from. These will include fine art such as painting with watercolors, acrylics and pastels; crafts, such as crewel embroidery, jewelry-making, working with clay, decoupage and mosaics; drama and creative movement, music and voice, storywriting and more. All snacks, materials, and supplies will be included, except for bag lunch. The price for the week-long session is $250. Half-day session available.For more information, call 843-321-2256. Jasper starts its own Farmers Market
The grand opening of the Jasper County Farmers Market will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Ridgeland. The opening will host a variety of events and vendors to celebrate a move into the renovated historic building. Farmers, vendors and artisans are asked to bring their tables, racks, easels and chairs and come early in order to set up. The event is free to the public.
Library programs accepting applicants
The Beaufort County Library brances will hold the 2008 Summer Reading Programs. Children ages 2 -3 can join the Bookworm Read-to-Me Club, age 4 through grade 5 join the "Catch the Reading Bug!" program, teens in grade 6 through 12 will experience "Metamorphosis" and even adults can participate by reading and entering for prizes. Registration ends June 28.The actual programs begin June 9 and continuing through July 19. All programs are free of charge.
