Hilton Head Dance Theatre staging 'Peter Rabbit,' 'Terpsichore' at school

"Peter Rabbit," a one-act ballet based on the tales of Beatrix Potter, will be presented by the Hilton Head Dance Theatre at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. May 17 and 2 and 4 p.m. May 18 at Hilton Head Island High School. In addition, the school is hosting "Terpischore, Too," featuring students from the Hilton Head Dance School, at 7:30 p.m. May 16-17 at Hilton Head Island High School. Tickets for each show are $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for children under 2. Tickets may be purchased at the door 30 minutes before showtime. Ascensions perform at Providence

Providence Presbyterian Church will host a benefit concertby gospel quartet the Ascensions at 7 p.m. Saturday at 171 Cordillo Parkway.Funds raised at the concert will benefit the Deep Well Project of Hilton Head Island. The concert will be in Providence's sanctuary. There is no cost for admission, and donations will be taken at the close of the program.

Galli show to benefit Hospice Care

Local singer Carole Galli will release her new CD of jazz and sacred songs with a concert that will benefit Hospice Care of the Lowcountry at 8 p.m. May 19 at the Coligny Theatre. Tickets are $35 for one admission and one CD, or $50 for two admissions and one CD. Tickets are now on sale at the Hospice office in Bluffton, Tradewinds Ladies Apparel in Pineland Station, the Coligny Theatre and the office at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church.

May River auditioning for 'Sugar'

The May River Theatre will hold auditions for its August 2008 production of "Sugar" from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Ulmer Auditorium in the Town Hall of Bluffton. Dates of the show are Thursday-May 17, 22-24, and 29-31. For more information, call 843-837-7798.

'Night Music' coming to high school

Hilton Head Island High School's Out of the Blue Chorus, directed by Larry Mercer and featuring guest vocalist Dan Gibson, will perform "More than a Little Night Music" at 7:30 p.m. May 24 in the high school's Visual and Performing Arts Center. A live orchestra, including Mercer on piano, will accompany the singers in a specially created cabaret setting. HHIHS explores the 'Dark'

Seahawk Stage Productions at Hilton Head Island High School will present the mystery play "Wait Until Dark" at 8 p.m. Tuesday-May 17 and May 20-24 at the school's Black Box Theatre. Corvette show comes to Bluffton

A show by Corvettes of Hilton Head will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bluffton High School parking lot. The car show is open to all makes and models of classic cars as well as motorcycle clubs. The cost is $20 to enter your car for judging. Spectators admission is free. 'Jekyll' continues at May River

The May River Theatre's new production of the musical "Jekyll and Hyde" will run through May 18 at the theater at Ulmer Auditorium in Bluffton Town Hall.
