[an error occurred while processing this directive]Q. What are the big differences between Kevn Kinney, soloist, and Kevn Kinney, lead vocalist of Drivin' n' Cryin'?
A. Kevn Kinney the folk singer guy is more linear, more wordy. The folk thing is more autobiographical. The lyrics match the music more. Drivin' n' Cryin' is kind of more anthemic.
Q. Talk a bit about (recent record) "Comin' Round Again."
A. That is a last-minute record. I was going on tour in Holland and they called and said, "Could you have a record in a week?" and I said OK. I think every band should make a record like that.
Q. What is the status of Drivin' n' Cryin'?
A. We have two records
coming out this year: "Live at CBGB's" and another that we've been working on sporadically since the day before 9/11.
Q. What are the chances of a Drivin' n' Cryin' national tour?
A. We do Southern tours every so often, but a national tour we probably won't ever do again. I'm the only full-time musician left in the group. I think the days of killing ourselves to go to Salt Lake City are over.
Q. Name one thing people wouldn't know about Kevn Kinney.
A. Most people don't know that I'm pretty shy. It's out of my nature to perform on stage. I couldn't ever give a speech. Once I'm on stage, in that comfort zone, it's different and I've learned to deal with it.
