The Weekly Winkerbean: Fond memories are tied to salted meats
March 24-April 4: During his first weekend on the job at Montoni's, Les, being a loser, finds quiet solitude in closing up shop. He wastes time rummaging through various bric-a-brac, racking up the overtime. Funky's retribution will no doubt be swift and fierce.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]Les ponders the days when he and his late wife, Lisa, used to live in the apartment above the restaurant, fondly remembering their shared affinity for seasoned meat. Les says, "Some of my old sportcoats still smell like pepperoni."
Some time later, Westview High School's version of Comic Book Guy, John, sporting a toupee that would
embarrass Donald Trump and a Batman varsity jacket, is helping former Westview student Pete and several pals move in above Montoni's. Witty banter loaded with innuendo ensues, including references to "friends with no benefits," Pete's "drawers" and "the cowboy way."
Eventually, the massively overweight John's physical exertions force him into an apoplectic fit. Pete playfully asks -- perhaps too playfully -- if John is having a stroke or heart attack.
