Sunday Brown loves the volunteer work she does with her therapy dog so much, not even a broken leg could stop her. (More)
Dear Carolyn: My brilliant, beautiful 23-year-old daughter is the middle of three girls and always has been a little kooky in her dress and manner. I don't expect her to be a cookie-cutter version of me or the other girls, but her hygiene habits have been lacking since she was in college. She doesn't smell bad, but she doesn't smell nice, either. (More)

Hi, Carolyn: How do I tell my fiance that I don't like his mother? I'm sure he can tell, but I can't bring myself to say it out loud; she is very important to him and very involved in his life. However, she rubs me the wrong way. He doesn't understand when I ask him to keep certain things private. Money is tight this year (for obvious reasons), and we're already discussing cutting back on the gift exchange with our families. We don't want to stiff the building crew, especially since they really do an excellent job. At the same time, we're going to end up spending more on their gifts than on our families'. I don't doubt they could use the money as much as we could, but is there a less expensive way to show our appreciation without being stingy? (More)

Dear Carolyn: After a few of years of dating, my partner and I are talking about living together. I would be glad to sell my place and move into hers. I really only need space enough for a computer, a dozen items on hangers and a couple of drawers. If she felt like moving into my place, I could happily part with most of the stuff in my house. Carolyn: My good friend's husband cheated on her, repeatedly, sometimes in their home while she was away. Obviously, this devastated her, and for the past few months I've tried to listen and support her as she sorts things out. (More)
