Beaufort Shrimp Festival
THURSDAY
This is the final day to register for the 5K Run, Walk Through History and Popcorn Shrimp Run. Advance registration required.
FRIDAY
5:30 p.m.: Entertainment begins with Tochterman & High Society from Charlottesville, Va.
8 p.m.: Blue Dogs from Charleston
SATURDAY
8 a.m.: 5K Run and Walk Through History at the corner of Bay and Newcastle streets in downtown Beaufort. The Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
8:45 a.m.: Popcorn Shrimp Run at the same location
11 a.m.: Live music by the East Coast Party Band from Charleston
1 p.m.: Shrimp de-heading contest
for adults and a shrimp peeling contest for children on the grass in front of the pavilion at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park need to know
Cost: Registration fees are $20 for the 5K Run, $10 for the walk and $5 for the Popcorn Shrimp Run, which is for ages 7 and younger. All registration forms can be found at BeaufortShrimpFestival.com.
Food: An array of fresh local shrimp prepared by local restaurants will be served.
Help needed: Volunteers still are needed to help with the races and the other events during the festival.
