•The Beaufort Water Festival Parade, organized by the Beaufort Lions Club, begins with lineup at 8 a.m. Saturday, with the parade starting at 10 a.m. and following the traditional downtown Beaufort parade route.

Entrants will be judged and awards presented for most patriotic, most festive music presentation and best presentation related to the 53rd Annual Water Festival theme: "Livin' a Coastal Dream."

•The Connection: Carolina-Caribbean Connection: Barbados and South Carolina, a traveling international art exhibit, is open through July 31 at York W. Bailey Museum at Penn Center, Martin Luther King Drive, St. Helena Island.

The exhibit was created to entertain and educate citizens about the connections between South Carolina and the island of Barbados. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. •An art exhibit featuring fused glass by Camille Perrin and recent paintings and collages by Gay Torrey continues through Aug. 3 at the Beaufort Art Association Gallery, 1001 Bay St.

CLASSES AND SEMINARS

•The Lowcountry Estuarium A Coastal Learning Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with creature feedings at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The estuarium is open on other days by appointment.

It offers an up-close, guided visit with creatures of the estuary. The estuarium is at 14th Street and Paris Avenue, Port Royal. Details: 843-524-6600 or lowcountryestuarium.org.

•A free class on the basics of chess is offered from 4 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at the St. Helena Branch of the Beaufort County Library, 1025 Sea Island Parkway, St. Helena Island.

MEETINGS AND CLUBS

•The S.C. State 4-H Congress Awards Banquet is at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Littlejohn Coliseum, Clemson University.

The group will celebrate the 100th birthday of South Carolina 4-H. In 1908, A.L. Easterling started the first boys corn club in Marlboro County.

The donor reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the banquet at 6:30 p.m. A 4-H Alumni luncheon is at noon at the Clemson House. Details: 864-656-3848 or at sgrms@clemson.edu.

CHARITIES AND VOLUNTEERS

•The 22nd annual CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association ) Cafe opens at 11 a.m. for takeout lunches Wednesday during the Beaufort Water Festival Antique Show at the Carteret Street United Methodist Church, 408 Carteret St.

The cafe is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It will feature homemade shrimp and chicken salads and desserts prepared by Child Abuse Prevention Association volunteers.

All proceeds benefit CAPA. Details: 843-524-4350.

•Volunteers are needed for the Hunting Island State Park's Oyster restoration project from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

The group will meet at Russ Point Boat Landing (opposite the Nature Center) to divide into work groups.

FAMILY REUNIONS

•The Miles Family reunion is Aug. 1-3 in Chester. Events include a reception, talent show, dance, brunch, luau excursion and Sunday Worship Service at Brown Chapel AME Zion Church.
