INTERCESSION AT YMCA

•Fall into Intercession for pre-K through seventh grade continues from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Oct. 31 at the Wardle Family YMCA, Port Royal.

Activities include Halloween and seasonal arts and crafts, field trip, swimming, rock climbing wall, nature walks, gym games and activities and more. Please bring lunch and snack. The cost is $85 per child for YMCA members. Details: 843-522-9622.

PALS INTERCESSION

CHRISTIAN HOMESCHOOLERS

•Christian Homeschoolers of Beaufort monthly support group meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at Shell Point Baptist Church. The group supports and encourages families who are home schooling whether they are beginners or have done so for a number of years. BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

•Students Against Destructive Decisions Club 2008-09 meets immediately after school today for 30 to 45 minutes in the media center.

•Wear Red Day at BCHS is Wednesday as part of the Red Ribbon Month Celebration.

•Yearbook orders may be placed during second period Thursday. No money is due at the time of order.

•Senior ad deadline is Thursday.

•Open house is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Monday. Parents may pick up report cards, get a copy of the current parent newsletter and visit teachers in their classrooms. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend and sign in for Parent Honor Roll points.

•A Parent Teacher Student Organization meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the John J. McVey Performing Arts Center.

•The Dolphin Pride Marching Band will play Friday at the football game. It will participate in the State Marching Championships Saturday.Details: 843-322-5570.

BEAUFORT ACADEMY

•Spirit Week continues today with Idol Day, Wednesday as Wild West Day and Thursday as Class Act Day for middle and high school students. Friday is Blue and White day for all students.

•A Pep Rally is at 2:45 p.m. Friday Fall Festival begins at 3:15 p.m. Friday. The second annual Alumni Soccer Game begins at 5 p.m. Friday.

•The Homecoming Football Game begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is free for Beaufort Academy students and alumni; $5 for adults and $3 for children older than 3.

•The Homecoming Dance is Saturday.

•A private screening of "High School Musical 3" is Sunday at Plaza Stadium Theaters. A Parents Association fundraiser, tickets are $35 and includes movie, popcorn and drink. The box office opens at 10 a.m. Themovie begins at 11 a.m. No advanced ticket sales.

BEAUFORT HIGH SCHOOL

•The School Improvement Council meets today at 6 p.m. Details: 843-322-2000.

•Students Naomi Manzira, Kalia Harris and Sasha Stedronsky appeared on "The Big Picture Presents: Ready To Vote," an ETV program that was broadcast Thursday.

BEAUFORT MIDDLE SCHOOL

•Caroline Campbell, Ausha Manokey and Angela Jenkins will travel with Hilton Head Island athletes to Anderson to participate in the South East Regional Special Olympic Tennis Tournament on Friday.

•Parents should ask students for the Friday Facts sheet.

•Homeroom teachers have information about community service and forms for verifying the service.

E.C. MONTESSORI SCHOOL, LADY'S ISLAND

•The school will celebrate 35 years with its Fall Family Harvest from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Charles Street Gallery. The event will have a chili cook-off, a pumpkin decorating contest and a costume contest. Chili tasting will start at 6 p.m. The event is open to friends and family of current or former E.C. students. Alumni are encouraged to attend. Details: 843-521-0181.

JOSEPH J. SHANKLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

•The First Achievement Quarter will end today. Parents are asked to come in and conference with their child's teacher. Students will not attend school Monday for parent conferences and Oct. 28 through Oct. 31 for Extending Learning.

LADY'S ISLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL

•Drama and Gateway to Technology fundraiser begins today.

•Students interested in joining a Speed Stacking team can sign up at the front office counter.

ROBERT SMALLS MIDDLE SCHOOL

•Intersession continues today through Oct. 31. Students return to school Nov. 3

•Extended Learning Days are from 7:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 28 through Oct. 31.

THOMAS HEYWARD ACADEMY

•The South Carolina Independent School Student Association held its fall conference at the Statehouse in Columbia on Sept. 23. Student government officers attended this conference, along with their sponsor, Anne Bridgers. Officers attending meeting were: Sara Fowler, president; Ryan Youmans, vice president; Melissa Arcuri, secretary; and Corey Tuten, treasurer. Sara Fowler also served as treasurer for the association.
