Silver Eagles, Stingers come home

More than 200 Marines and sailors from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 and Marine Aviation Logisitics Squadron 31 will return to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort today following a seven-month deployment to Al Asad, Iraq.

The Silver Eagles of VMFA-115, an F/A-18 Hornet squadron, and a group of Stingers from MALS-31, provided close-air support for troops on the ground including convoy security and armored reconnaissance. The Hornet squadron was the first forward air-controller capable, single-seat F/A-18 Hornet squadron to deploy to Al-Asad.
