The games are scheduled for Nov. 3-7, and a variety of competitive, Olympic-style events are planned for residents age 50 plus throughout the county.
The local competition began in 1986 on Hilton Head Island and grew to become a countywide challenge with nearly 500 participants and 19 events including everything from card games to golf and track and horseshoes. Softball will be played this year for the first time, and men's, women's and coed teams are being formed.
Applications are available at the YMCA in Port Royal, the Ribaut Bowling Lanes and the Lind Brown Activity Center in Beaufort.
