Paul Cole of Port Royal-based The Home Design Company won both 1st and 2nd place in the American Residential Design Awards competition in the published plans 2,500-to-3,500-square-foot category, which were awarded in Kansas City, Mo., in late July at the 58th Annual National Convention of the American Institute of Building Design.

Cole was also elected eastern district director for the American Institute of Building Design and became a certified professional building designer. He is the only residential designer in the Beaufort area to hold that certification, according to a Home Design Company press release.
