BMH posts losses in July

Total revenues at Beaufort Memorial Hospital were $532,312 lower than expected in July, leading to a loss of $596,569 for the month, according to its August financial report to the board of trustees.

Meanwhile, total operating expenses exceeded budget by $959,710 at $12,579,079 and total revenues were $11,982,510.

Labor costs exceeded budget in all components such as salary, benefits and contract labor. Salaries accounted for $4.47 million, which is 2.6 percent above budget. Employee benefits were over budget by $160,154, with the majority of that coming from worker’s compensation costs. Contract labor declined 26.3 percent from June, but remained over budget by $222, 918.
