Adult softball league organizational meeting planned

The Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services adult softball league will host an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. on April 3 at Burton Wells Complex.

Hunter education course set for April 5

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will sponsor a hunter education course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 5 at the Parris Island Rod and Gun Club. Caddy auction planned for Verizon Heritage

Caddy For A Cure is hosting an auction for fans wanting to caddy for PGA Tour golfers Boo Weekley, Justin Leonard or Woody Austin at this year's Verizon Heritage April 15 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. 2008 Fripp Island fishing tournaments set

There are many fishing tournaments coming soon on Fripp Island. The King Mackerel Warm-Up Tournament will be April 25 and 26. There will be a captains meeting followed by a cookout on April 25. Fishing starts April 26 at 6 a.m. and weigh-ins close at the Fripp Island Marina at 6 p.m. The Memorial Day Kingfish Tournament will be May 23 and 24. The Fireworks Fishing Tournament will be July 11 and 12. The annual Fripp Island Kingfish Invitational will be Aug. 29 and 30. The second annual Owen Perry Memorial Inshore Tournament will be Nov. 7 and 8. A kids tournament will be Nov. 28. For more information, contact the Fripp Island Marina at 843-838-1517.

RiverDogs to host Run, Forrest, Run 5k

The Charleston RiverDogs will host the fifth annual Run, Forrest, Run 5K on April 26 at Joseph P. Riley Park. The advance registration fee is $25 and includes a race shirt and a ticket to that night's baseball game. For more information, call 843-723-7241.

Rodeo coming to Walterboro's Double D Arena

The 2008 Walterboro Rodeo will take place May 2 and 3 at Double D Arena in Walterboro. Gates for the seven event rodeo will open at 6 p.m. and the action starts at 8 p.m. both nights. On May 2, children 12 and younger get in free with one paying adult. Jerry Olsen will entertain both nights. This is a non-alcohol, non-drug rodeo. Croquet tournament coming to Bradys Island Plantation

The 17th annual Invitational Croquet Tournament will take place at 10 a.m. May 3 at Brady's Island Plantation. Historically accurate dress for the 1920s is encouraged and will be photographed. A Captain's Party will be May 2 at the home of Patricia Denkler and Michael Rainey at 801 Prince St. Spectator tickets are $50. A team sponsorship of $800 entitles a team of eight to come to the Captain's Party and to play in the tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Beaufort Marine Institute. Bryan Adrian Summer Basketball Camp now accepting registrations

Registration is now open for the 30th annual Bryan Adrian Summer Basketball Camp. Boys and girls ages 5-18 are eligible. There are overnight camps at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C., July 20-24 and at Mars Hills College in Mars Hill, N.C., from July 27-31. Friends of Callawassie plan 8K run and 5K walk

The Friends of Callawassie will sponsor the annual charity 8K run and 5K walk at 9 a.m. May 17 at Callawassie Island.

Casual and competitive athletes are welcome to participate. The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt, awards and a buffet. The charity raises funds for Lowcountry neighbors in need.

Year Round Fishing Tournament under way

The 2008 Year Round Fishing Tournament started with the new year. The event is put together by the Beaufort Sportfishing and Diving Club. There is no entry fee to participate, but anglers must weigh in their own fish at Port Royal Landing Marina. All anglers are welcome to participate.
