HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Beaufort High took seventh place in the Seahawk Invitational at Hilton Head High School, beating Pendleton in the final round of the tournament.
The Eagles put up three runs in the first inning, then relied on a strong pitching and solid defense to pick up their third win of the season.
"We've pitched better and played better defense in our last two games," Beaufort High coach Brook Dixon said. "Hopefully that will springboard us into region play on Monday."
Mark Guldner lead Beaufort's offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple. Matt Witt was 2-for-2 with a double. Renier Huysamen was 2-for-3.
Beaufort (3-9) will host West Ashley on Monday.

ORANGEBURG -- Thomas Heyward continued its winning ways by bashing 14 hits in a win at Orangeburg Prep.
The Rebels also had a stellar defensive game, committing no errors for the second game in a row.
"They're playing real well," THA coach Nic Shuford said. "The key for us right now is defense."
Thomas Heyward also had a good day with the bats with Marshall Mahan, Jacob Baker, Joey Gwinn, Ian Burch and Jarrett Cartin each gettting two hits.
Cartin started on the mound for THA and got the win while John Mahan earned the save.
Today's game scheduled against Bible Baptist has been forfeited to the Rebels. Thomas Heyward (6-5, 3-0 SCISA Region 4) will host Hilton Head Christian on Tuesday.

BLUFFTON -- Trey Young scattered eight hits in a complete-game victory as Colleton Prep earned its first win in the BATRUP Tournament.
Young and Quinn McCullom had two hits apiece for the Warhawks (7-4) and Andy Nettles added a double and three RBIs. Tyler Wester took the loss in relief for Battery Creek (3-11).

Hilton Head quadrangular
HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Beaufort Academy took fourth place with 200 points in a quadrangular meet at Sea Pines Ocean Course.
Hilton Head Christian won the event with a score of 149 followed by Hilton Head Prep with 167 and St. Andrew's with 185.
Hilton Head Christian's Michael Montgomery was the low medalist with a 34. For Beaufort Academy, Richard Malinowski shot a 41 followed by Patrick Walker at 49, Sammy Gray at 54, Andrew Gray at 56 and Chris Huckabee at 60.
"We're improving," Beaufort Academy coach Billy O'Neal said. "Our swings are improving and our course-management is improving a little bit. We've got some potential there, we just need more practice."

Thomas Heyward 9, Orangeburg Prep 1
Zack Murdock carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in an impressive pitching performance that helped carry THA to victory.
Murdock finished the game with five strikeouts allowing two hits and one run in seven innings of work.
Taylor Cowart, Scott Malphrus and Alex Silon provided the offense for the Rebels. Cowart and Malphrus had three hits and two RBI each while Silon added two hits and two RBI.
Thomas Heyward (4-1) will hosts Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.
